Drag clicking is a technique where you drag your finger across the mouse button, letting friction make the button bounce and register many presses from a single motion. It can produce very high click counts for a short time.
How it works
When you pull a slightly damp or textured fingertip across the button, the button flexes and the switch inside rapidly closes and opens. On a suitable mouse, that creates a burst of clicks.
Why your mouse matters
Drag clicking depends on the switch type, the button surface and the way the button is built. Some mice make it easy; many make it nearly impossible. If a test shows very few clicks, the limitation is usually the hardware, not you.
Trying it safely
- Use a test page such as the drag click test to see what your mouse registers.
- Do not modify or damage your mouse to force the effect.
- Take breaks; dragging repeatedly can irritate the fingertip.
Is drag clicking allowed?
Rules vary between games and servers and change over time. Always check the rules of the game you play. We cannot tell you what any server permits.
Compared with other techniques
Jitter clicking and butterfly clicking work on almost any mouse; drag clicking is much more mouse-dependent.
