How to use the Keyboard Test

  1. Press any key on your keyboard.
  2. Watch it appear as the last key pressed and added to the log below.
  3. Try every key you rely on, including modifiers and less-common keys.

Understanding your results

Keys are identified using a layout-independent code (for example, the physical "A" position registers the same way regardless of keyboard layout), while the label shown reflects what that key actually produces on your layout. If a key never appears no matter how many times you press it, your browser isn't receiving a signal for it.

About the Keyboard Test

This test listens directly for key press events in your browser. It's useful for spotting unresponsive keys, checking a new or secondhand keyboard, or confirming that a specific key combination is being read correctly by your system before relying on it in a game.

Tips to improve

  • If a key doesn't register here, try it in a plain text editor too — some keys are intercepted by the operating system or other software before reaching the browser.
  • Sticky or unresponsive keys are often a sign of dust or debris under the keycap and may benefit from cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

The label reflects the character your layout produces (which can change with Shift or a different input language), while the underlying key position stays the same.

No — it shows individual key events but doesn't specifically test how many simultaneous key presses your keyboard can register at once.
